Scholarship Program  

2008  - $1000 Scholarship Recipients

Allison Suzanne Grove

Jeanie Lee Fields

Allision plans to attend Salisbury State University where she will major in Elementary Education.  Achieving  higher than a 4.00 grade point average and ranking in the upper ten percent of her class at SHHS, Allison describes herself as a "Rebel" forever.  She has been active in a wide variety of school activities:  Student Government all four years, helping to organize pep rallies, homecoming events, and blood drives, Junior and Senior Varsity softball all four years, serving as Captain one year; peer helper in the Guidance Office, tutoring and All-County Honor Chorus.  Allison is a member of the National Honor Society and was selected to the National Honor Roll, the National Society of High School Scholars and Who's Who among American High School Students.  Allison looks forward to returning to Washington County as part of the teaching faculty and perhaps later as part of the administration of the school system she loves.  This scholarship will be especially helpful to Allison who is determined to help her cover her own educational costs. Jeanie plans to prepare for a career in medicine at Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana.  At SHHS, she graduated third in her class with a grade point average of 4.28.  A member of the Honor Club all four years and the National Honor Society for the past two, Jeanie has been an active member of Key Club, International Club and has participated in numerous groups and activities.  She has been involved in class fundraising activities, blood drives and support for dances and concerts.  Jeanie has also taken advanced work in music and drama, participating in the All County Chorus in both solo and ensemble events and many musicals productions like Annie and Fiddler on the Roof.  In addition to her outstanding academic record and many school activities, Jeanie has had a perfect attendance record each of her four years in high school.

The scholarship fund provides financial assistance to deserving South High seniors 

who are accepted and attend a post-secondary school.  Any senior in good standing at South Hagerstown High School who plans to attend a post-secondary school is eligible to apply for these two scholarships. Applications are available in the school’s Counseling Center.  See Susan Starsnik for an application and more information. 

   SHHS Alumni and associates are encouraged to make contributions to the SHHS Alumni Association Scholarship Fund.   The South Hagerstown High School Alumni Association is a 501.3c not-for-profit corporation.  Donations made to this organization are tax deductible.  Please make checks payable to:
